So my grandad flips cars in his spare time, hes a retired mechanic and still likes to work on them

The story with this one is the car got sold to him with light damage, no logbook. Applied for logbook and got it so happy days. Repaired car, put it back on road with a clean bill of health. Passed its MOT with flying colours.
Now, the actual question. The car cant be taxed, he sold it and the new owner had no luck so grandad had to buy it back off them. When you do a vehicle check it comes back as this:

Anyone else had the same? And how to resolve it, DVLA are not interested in helping

What did the DVLA actually say?

I've always found them to be pretty helpful over the phone...

What's the taxation class on the V5?

May only be possible to tax it at a post office if it's disabled and needs the class changing

I'm not sure I'll have to ask him, it says on the reg checkers "not available" the only data available is the basic so colour, make and model. Some reg checkers dont even recognise the car, says doesnt exist

I've had this with various cars over the years - essentially the online systems aren't 100%

What's the make, model and year ?

Has he tried to tax it at the PO ?

It's a Vauxhall Tigra 2007, so nothing spicy or interesting. Just seems a bit odd. I'll see if he can tax it at a post office

Might be worth getting your Grandfather to look into one of the trade vehicle check firms. Might save a bit of a grief.

You'll probably find the scrapyard didn't inform them but the PO did.

The usual "solution" would be to buy a cheap similar car or just V5 off ebay etc
