A few of us at work have been looking up our old cars on the DVLA website, checking if they are MOT'd or taxed and my previous car, an Abarth 500, comes up as not found (reg DU10WDP if anyone is interested), the car I had before shows fine and still on the road (PE57XUA) but no sign of the Abarth, even my mums old Belmont from the 80's shows (though no MOT since 95).

Does this mine the poor Abarth has been totaled or has it had a private plate put on it? Would be a shame if it's dead so soon, was a lovely car in a great colour, spec and condition when I part ex'd it.

Have you checked to see if it's MOT history is on the system ?
It could have had a plate change, one of my old 911s has had a plate change and isn't showing on the system.
Or it could have been written off and Brocken or stolen, in which case, I believe that DVLA wipe the vehicle from the system ?

I'm going to think private plate, it's easier for me to think that and not that she's been totalled, loved that car was just impractical to keep once we changed the DS4 for an i3, needed something that could be used on motorways long distance so chopped it for a Leon 1.8tsi FR.

My stolen Megane rs is still on the system
And it was stolen and never recovered
At 2 years old in 2009, it’s still on the tax checker as untaxed and apparently overdue it’s first mot

I'd be a bit surprised if my two old motors that only show for MOT history were on private plates now biggrin

a '98 petrol Vectra, and an '04 diesel Vectra, which both stopped getting MOTs a few years ago. eek

My Abarth shows nothing, tax or MOT, is like it vanished off the face of the earth.

No its not. it would still show but with an export marker. My BMW was exported in 2010 and still shows.

Yeah tried the HPI site, not found like on the DVLA MOT and Tax sites, I think it must be a private plate, am going to get the orig plate of my mates M4 which has stuck a private plate on and see if that is the same.

As soon as you sell it you accept that it could be used as a bumper car, taxi, skip or anything else. No point getting sad about how the current owner treats it. The only way you get a say is by keeping it in the first place.

It's just metal. smash

This.

I've just input the original reg. of SWMBO's car (it's on a private plate now) and it comes back as 'Vehicle Not Found'.
