I had all four tyres changed at quick fit yesterday late afternoon. By the time I left it was closing time.
The tyre pressure monitor on my BMW said it can take 12 minutes to initialise. On the way home I got a message on the screen to say it’s not working and I should drive carefully.
I tried to reinitialise it a few times but it’s not working.

Where are these sensors a located? I’m assuming KwikFit have broken something. Is it expensive to get the sensors replaced?

What are the chances of KwikFit sorting it out if i go back today? I’m sure they will deny all liability!

What BMW and year? Sounds like you have the tyre warning system that uses your ABS sensors

If the valves are steel bodied then they are sensors, if they are rubber valves then it works off the abs. You wouldn’t touch the sensors as these are fixed inside the alloy.

Try resetting it and driving around for 5 minutes at 30mph making as many turns as you can, then 5 minutes at higher speeds.

I will try that. I’m fairly sure they were steel bodied previously. I haven’t checked what they fitted yesterday.

Mistake number 1 - using KwikFit for anything. As the old slogan goes "you can't get sh*tter than a KwikFit fitter"

Did they tell you that you needed new brakes discs and pads whilst you were there?

Haha
Best price I could find and the tyre insurance for run flats is useful!

So I went in and they broke a valve yesterday and it needs to be recoded. So they are going to order a valve from BMW and replace and recode.
Interestingly I was charged for valves online, but they didn’t change them! And they never have

Unfamiliar with tyre insurance, but I have never found quickfit to be cheap for tyres.

If you book online, I find it hard to beat their prices (for premium tyres)

They are pretty keen on Michelin PS4's for my Golf R. They are owned by Michelin I believe.

They're owned by Itochu.

If you get a PSI readout for each wheel in the dash, the sensor for that wheel is banjaxed, maybe not Kwit - Kit's fault at all, they do fail.

Get a new sensor and they should fit it for nowt, seeing as you are a good customer.

Tyre insurance = method for parting fools with cash. I've never had a tyre that would require an insurance claim so I've easily saved myself the cost of several tyres by not having it (probably get a puncture on the way home!).

Had a look at there online prices for mine (also BMW run flats), easily beaten by Blackcircles, Goodyear Eagle (inc. fitting, per tyre) - BC £140, KF £165

Just looked for mine, as I've literally just ordered a set for the 330.

Pilot Sport 4 225/45R17 Y 91

Todays prices:
Black circles... £79 each total £376 fitted
Kwik fit........... £81 each total £376 fitted

Which is fair enough and news to me, having previously compared then only on the highstreet.

However, BC have a 10% of day once a month, and I get them fitted locally for £10 each. So I actually paid £338.

I had a set of PS4's fitted by the Kwik Fit mobile service recently (after checking on here first!)

Best price I could get at the time - and the mobile fitted was faultless. Far better than many of the other places that I've had tyres fitted at over the years.

He didn't mark any alloy - result!

I've used the mobile service too and you get a totally different service than from the depots.

Despite knowing the company, that sounds a bit Operation Yewtree...
