Drove over a pothole and skidded

I drove over a pothole or road defect on a country road and it caused me to skid/swerve. I managed to get control of the car without any harm being done. I reported to the local council.
But could I be reported to police by another driver for not being in control of my vehicle. I get worried about this type of thing

Yes, yes you could. And the penalty is severe these days. I know a guy ( down the pub ) who did 3 years for skidding and not crashing in to anything.

My advice would be to find a decent solicitor and hand yourself in at the local police station before they come looking for you.

No didn't hit anyone or anything but definitely terrified myself and probably other oncoming drivers

Wouldn't worry about it - if those who slide through/round roundabouts generally aren't reported, then you'll be fine! As a sidenote, I've tested brakes in the past down an industrial estate on a Sunday afternoon, intentionally locking up to see if they will - had a couple of funny looks, haven't ended up inside yet!

Seriously, I'm with you. If I saw it happen to someone else I'd never think of reporting it. But now with all these dashcams in people's cars you don't know who's looking for the opportunity to report

I think you'll be fine. Maybe play out the scenario? Copper knocks on door, 'Hello sir/madam, we've had reports of you drifting down a country road in plumes of smoke', reply 'My apologies officer, I think there has been a misunderstanding. I did in fact hit a pothole and it unbalanced the vehicle but I brought it back under control quickly and safely'… 'Ah okay sir/madam, good day to you'… etc etc.

Being a worrier is okay, but try and be rational and you'll often find there is nothing to worry about

Yes officer, the pothole made me skid, it wasn't my driving like a loon/over exuberance/skill level surpassed. It was that darn pothole.
