It maybe an extended time in the US, but does this look quite cool for an American motor? And apart from Rolls Royce why aren't more companies doing suicide doors?

It's a heritage thing for them. The new one probably also going to star in new Matrix films wink

If only they could find away of strengthening the chassis and roof enough to do away with the B pillars that would be ace.

I always think of the one that Marilyn Manson used during his Gangsta Goth phase...

It's important to emphasise that they don't just slap on a reverse-mounted door. The vehicle is also extended by more than 15 centimetres. And the interior is upgraded significantly. I imagine that the suspension is optimised as well.

The work is done by a specialist coach builder to whom the Lincoln division of Ford ship "normal" top-of-the-range examples which are then converted.

Nobody's buying wafty saloons any longer. It's inspiring that the people at Lincoln were able to get this simple, yet powerful concept through the corporate labyrinth at Ford Motor Company and into production. Perhaps they had no choice; sales of the regular Continental are poor and there's rumour of the line shutting down.

Last year was the first installment, and now they're going for round two. China will surely like this sort of thing. It would be cool if this special car could be commercially viable in larger numbers. 150 units is truly a token sum.

Lancia started making the Aprilia in 1937 with suicide doors and no B-pillar - most things seem to have been done before!

Ford made a fuss about their B-Max having no B-Pillar. I recall seeing on the telly someone diving through a B-Max. Can't remember if it was a TV show or official marketing. Probably doable.

I think it was a TV advert - but that wouldn't make me want one!
