They make a car sound faster (to some extent) but rarely make it actually faster, that's not going to go down with enthusiasts of performance, they make a load of noise are are generally illegal, that doesn't go down well with those who are not motoring enthusiasts.

Do they still exist? I haven't seen, heard or heard of a cherry bomb for years.

"Sound" faster?

There's a complete tt who drives past my house at 05:30 every day with a trumpet for an exhaust. tt then revs the tits off it as he pulls away from the T-junction. I can hear him for miles.

If I could be bothered to stand at the street corner when he passes, I'd throw stones at him.

That's because most usually rusted off within 12 months.

I remember a mate had one (Ironically) fitted to his Nissan Cherry. When it rusted apart and fell off a few months later, the car was significantly faster with its old silencer fitted.

Because they are are always fitted to something with a small low displacement engine nobody's cares about

If I hear. A noisy exhaust I want to see a nice car when I turn around
E.g lambo high end Audi arbarth something sporty not a clapped out Corsa with a body kit on

That surprises me because I thought that they were loud enough(just about) as standard. I did have the factory sports exhaust option on mine though, so I guess that there is a market for improvement in fairness.

You have to turn around to confirm it's a clapped out Corsa rather than a V-something or other? biggrin

Cherry Bombs related to currently are not the 'real' thing - same as Thrush Mufflers.......poor facsimile of what once was 50 years ago.
