Bought it, Sold it, Regretted Selling, Bought it back...

For years I had a soft spot for a particular model, in a particular colour and spec - Not "Posters on my wall as kid", just "I'd have one of those and thats the spec I'd have it in"
(Its an old Land Rover, but thats not important)
Some years ago I saw one for sale, and being the t'internet it was 250 miles away.
So I went, and bought it.
Very happy, everything I'd expected it would be.
After a few years of ownership, sold it. Not sure why, probably to finance something else on "the list".
2 years later, to the day, regretting the sale, I start searching for the same model/age/spec.
Listed on Ebay 8 hours earlier, by the guy who'd bought it from me, was "my" car. I called... "Hi, remember me...?"
He was emigrating and needed the funds.
We did a deal over the phone and I got my car back.
I won't ever sell it. Lesson learnt.
How often is it to buy back a car you've owned? (And would a psychologist explain the phenomenon please?)

I bought my Alfa 156 back. It was my first car (that I bought). Sold it for the sake of a change and it being due a cam belt. Got bored with it's replacement 3 years later, was going to by an Alfa GT 3.2, nicely sorted, in the spec I wanted. Then my old 156 came up for sale and I bought it back the next day

A guy I used to work with bought a brand new Cerbera which he loved - kept it for a couple of years and sold it on and bought an M3
A few years later he fancied a different car and found it for sale at a Dealership and bought it again.
The second time he only kept it for about ) months.

Sold a beautiful M3 Evo in Fern green to an absolute cock in Birmingham (made in metal, or something, his business on eBay).
Didn't even sell, swapped it for the biggest POS Audi Allroad.
Worst car i've ever owned.
Sent him a message a year or two later and replied with photo's of it written off.
"Must have been worth a bit as I got a massive pay out for it".
Hope every sh!t he had after that is a hedgehog.

Not quite as good a car but my father in law bought a new Astra then sold it to us after 5 years of low mileage where we had it as the first family car. Two tone paint, grey and silver, nothing special but reliable and in really good condition. Sold it to a young lad at work who within two days put it through the Duke of Beaufort's ancient dry stone wall and wrote it off...Didn't even sell, swapped it for the biggest POS Audi Allroad.

I tend to keep my cars forever, so never want them back afterwards as theres usually a reason to move on as they are getting tired...
Sold an 1992 RS2000 in 2005, was in great condition, very low mileage (45k). Regretted selling as it has been in the family a long time but soon forgot about it.
2 years later I moved from Newport to Swansea, was bored and looking at cars for sale near me on ebay and up pops my old RS2000. Sadly it had rusted badly so I left it as a fond memory

I've told this story on here before, but I'll tell it again. In 1988, my first car was a 1965 Triumph Vitesse 6. I was 18 and the car was 23. I travelled the length and breadth of the country in that car, eventually parting with it in 1993 in exchange for a TR7.
I always wondered what had happened to the car but could never find any evidence that it still existed. In February last year as a result of a 'What was your first car' thread on here, I had another look for it, and boom, there it was. I found an Ebay listing from Novemeber 2018 that included the owner's phone number. I called him and we agreed a price. It was in a sorry state, and although I had no use for it, I wanted to save it. I bought it back and have now restored it.
As I said I have no use for it but didn't want to see it broken up for parts, so It's now looking for a new owner. I won't get everything back that I put into it but at least I know I have given it another couple of decades of life.

Incredibly, my eBay ad was spotted by a guy living at the other end of the country, from whom I'd bought it over 20years ago!
He'd always regretted selling it and decided to buy it back. It couldn't have gone to a better home.

Bought it, loved it, barely rode it, so sold it, i regretted the day i sold it.

So did a deal, bought it back, rinse & repeat the above.
Didn't use it, sold it & now again wishing i never had!
Any of my other previous bikes i don't have the same want for.
I contacted the guy i'd sold it too, but he'd already moved it on & didn't have the new owners number.
