Though technically a number of them are actually illegal as they don't have the manufacturer details listed along the bottom - I realised that after I clicked No to the first 10, then went back & started again....

Obviously thought more legal plates were illegal, going by all that dodgey spacing.

You'd be unlucky to get pulled - but there are some double spacing requirements between 3 letters & numbers

I think you're only likely to have a problem with extra spacing though

The concern for me would be that the coppers would stop you anyway for a closer look and to check you out. I have a mate who has a number plate that is supposed to say CROIST, I can't remember the original numbers and letters, he carries a letter from the police (not sting) saying that the plate is legal because every other time he goes out he gets stopped.

Personally I couldn't be bothered.

I saw a Rolls in the West End with the Reg no T1 TCH anyone know who owns that, I thought maybe Ronnie Corbetts widow

I did bloody hopeless in the quiz, I thought one of the basis issues was that you couldn't crunch the letters up, perhaps not.

22 out of 25 for me. At least some good came out of my being pulled over and fined £100 for having one character mid-spaced!

An old silver on black doesn't because they are as originally made, mine has the original 1951 plates, but I guess a newly made replacement might?

Plate maker details weren't required until relatively recently - sometime in the 90s perhaps? I fell into the same trap and realised after I'd finished the quiz.

The 'traditional' silver on black used to be pre-1973 cars, but was changed to a rolling 40 years old if registered tax exempt - AFAIK they don't need the manufacturer details on them & can be plain.

I can't remember when the law was introduced that the manufacturer details need to be on the plate but probably 10+ years ago - so some of those cars may be legal without, but most are newer
