How long are v5s taking at the mo

I purchased a second hand car from a main dealer on 02 07 20

I’ve not had the v5 through yet, is this a corona thing? I’ve also not had a cheque for the balance of the tax on the old one. Sorry for this thread!

Two weeks ago I bought a car privately on a Monday evening - had the new V5 on the Thursday

I sent off for a replacement V5 in march, 3 weeks ago it came back, I had missed part of the form off,
filled it in and re sent,

still waiting.

It will depend whether they notify DVLA online or send the V5 through the post to them.

I recently bought another vehicle & it took 5 weeks for V5 to arrive.

Check your MOT status online & you'll see the date that the most recent V5 has been produced.

A couple of weeks back, i did a plate change on DVLA site, Tuesday pm- had the new V5 in Saturdays post, so less than 4 days.

Pleased with that!

Bought a new van about three weeks ago. Still haven’t had the V5 back but today I got the tax refund for the old van I scrapped only a week ago.

Sent ours off when we moved house in early April - took about 7 weeks.

If you change your details or register it as sold online it's a lot quicker - I think they quote 5 days.

Sold a motorcycle about 3 weeks ago, did the V5 transfer online, the new one arrived in less than a week.

I think if you can do stuff online it happens a lot faster than if you rely on paper docs & Postman Pat.
