MoT extension for the second lockdown?

Hi folks
Mother in laws trusty old Corolla MoT expires on December 2nd. I’m normally a ‘test it 30 days before an fix it myself kind of bloke’, but if it were to fail I’d unlikely have time to fix and retest any defects before Thursday. I had diaried a reminder for myself tomorrow to book a test this week.
MiL is a teacher so she needs the car to get to work, ideally I can’t have it with a fail that leaves it unusable until after lockdown. Plus I doubt I’m going to have much luck booking an MoT at any of the places I trust before Thursday!
With the impending lockdown coming, does anyone know if they are going to offer another extension?

I have the same question.
My MOT was originally due on 11/07/19 but was then extended to 12/01/21. Covered very few miles this year but have it booked in for 14/11.
I recall garages were closed during the first lockdown, remember talking to the chaps at my local place and they mentioned how it finally gave them time to work on their own project cars

I don't think they'll have another extension.
On a tangent, one of our cars had the MIL light up on Friday and I dropped the car into the mechanic for investigation.
It's only a couple of weeks before its warranty expires so I'm wondering how the investigation/repair/return of car etc is going to play out.

My understanding is that car maintenance type activities are permitted to continue. I.e. I'm expecting to still be able to take my car in for minor repairs on Thursday as booked.
I think now we know more about how the virus spreads (crowded indoor spaces) and how it doesn't (infected surfaces), the balance will come down in favour of keeping car maintenance going. I'm not aware of any superspreader events relating to cars being serviced!
But all subject to further clarification soon, no doubt.

They weren’t. Some may have decided to close and others to open for reduced hours but they definitely were not required to close.trickywoo said:

I stand corrected, only going by what my local mechanic said when I took a car in for a service last month. I guess some decided to close and furlough staff but may not do the same this timeeltax91 said:

The fact that it fails does not mean that the car not no valid MOT though (Done to death on here) unless there is something dangerous. There has been no mention of any further extensions, and I doubt there will be another IMO.
