As above i need a pair of UK legal plates, i'd like to have a plain black border, yet every online suppler i've seen so far want to add their Business details and postcode in the center of the border, i just want the border no GB or EU flags just the BS AU 145d legal guff on the side.

Possible?

No

A number plate must show the name, trademark or other way of identifying the manufacturer or supplier and their postcode to comply with the regulations.

These guys will:

https://www.demonplates.com/plate-builder

Had plates made for various cars over the years

ETA - plates are fully legal, the BS etc bits don't need to be in Halfords sized font like a main dealer made plate - it's just free advertising for them - as long as it can be seen up close then it's fine

Keep it stiff

Looks like I did have to ask, it’s a car forum wink

DemonPlates from the poster above yours thumbup gives me the answer I needed.

Why would/should I need Dealer & Postcode in the middle of the Border yet they are not in a prominent position on standard plates, it just advertising.

Just checked (Ctrl F) that DVLA Document there is not one single mention of the word Border in that document hehe

You don't have to have a load of excess advertising, but for them to be legal they must comply with the legislative standard.

That is they must comply with The British Standard for number plates.

The British Standard sets out the characteristics of the number plate. This includes visibility, strength and reflectivity.
To meet the British Standard, each number plate must be permanently and legibly marked with the:
• British Standard number
• name, trademark or other way of identifying the
manufacturer or supplier
• name and postcode of the supplying outlet.

Demon plates state they will include these on their plates to satisfy the legal requirements.

This company provide a great service. I have their plates on all my own personal cars.
Any colour border, logo ect.
Too much emphasis on bsau/post codes ect. Very few mot centres would even take a second glance, as long as the plate is the correct font..

I just use any of the vast number of showplates sellers on eBay.

Most don’t have the relevant sign etc. but it’s never been an issue anywhere at all.

Agreed, if the plate looks about right, it's highly unlikely to be a source of consternation.

Another one for Fancy Plates. They're Ireland based so no messing about with V5s - just order the plates and they'll send them.
(and if you want BS B.S just ask and they'll add them. Personally I don't bother...)

As others have said, just use a show plate, I have on numerous cars.

I use the correct legal colours, fonts, sizes, spacings, materials and style - I just don't want all the other advertising guff on there because it looks crap.

In terms of issues with police or MOTs, I've had exactly zero incidents over the 15 last years.

On mine they're laser etched so they're near invisible unless you're very close - That's from a random Ebay seller, so I'm sure it'll be an option elsewhere.

It's present, so I'd argue it satisfies the requirements perfectly well.

i use pressed metal plates from ebay and the etched writing is tiny in the black border, i just go over the silver with a black marker pen and they are then invisible

I had some plates from Halfords (yes the place we all love to hate) and all the legal stuff was on there, but you couldnt really see it.

I get all my plates from 'My Show Plates' - based in Guernsey. I always have a border, and you can choose to add the BS stuff or not. No documents to send either.

I await the 'this is illegal, you're facilitating crime' posts in due course hehe

My wife's car has the regulation details which is fair enough, but it also has a black 'extension' under the plate taking up nearly as much width as the actual registration saying 'www. company.net plus phone number' Now that is sneaky, as it can't easily be removed mad
