Cherished numberplate double swop ?

We have just got a new car for Mrs Mogsmex and I am having her old one, her old one (my new one) has had her cherished registration on it from new registration and as I understand it I need to await the log book through the post then I can transfer her plate onto her new car no problem with this part and I have done it before although not on the new on line system….

My question is If I buy a plate for my new car (her old one ) can I transfer that on at the same time or any other way of avoiding the DVLA auto generated number plate that wont actually ever be used on the car ?

As it’s Piston heads – her new car is a 2015 F23 BMW Msport 228i and the old ones a 2019 Fiesta ST3

As I understand it the simplest way will involve having the DVLA assigned number on for a few days. If you do not need to use the car in that time frame then do not get the plates made up. This is the process I would use:

1) Put her existing registration on retention and put on the BMW when you have the log book
2) Put your new registration on the Fiesta before changing keeper (quicker)
