Postal Order - DVLA

I need to exchange my Jersey licence for a UK one so need to send the document to DVLA and pay £43 for the privilege.

As it's 2021 I don't have a cheque book, so Postal Order it is.

I've been looking at the Post Office website, but can someone confirm for me if all Post Offices can do a Postal Order. I've not mentioned anywhere in the services offered by the Post Offices near me.

Nope, asked my missus and 4 mates who live nearby, none of us have a cheque book.

How about a bank draught/draft? from your local bank branch?

I got a postal order from the Post Office to send to the DVLA in a similar situation about 18 months ago.

I realise it's a bit of an off the wall suggestion but have you considered giving your local Post Office a call?

A bank draft or building society cheque is normally £25! A postal order for £43 will cost £43 +12.5% fee = £48.37. All post office will do them. It's bullst and the DVLA need to enter the 21st Century and have a card portal for non-car tax enquiries.

Ring your bank, they should send you a chequebook free of charge, I know Santander provide chequebooks free of charge for account holders you just have to request one!

I e used a postal order for the DVLA last month. It costs a little on top though.

Yes they can, it’s printed through the EPOS terminal, ones for retention (@£80) were a tenner each in January, wouldn’t take a card payment through so had to use cash machine and I wanted three had to do the whole process three times
