Just a query of the general population of PH, just had a quote for changing my Z3 2.8 sports car insurance to a 1.8 turbo hatchback and find that the insurance company are asking for over double for the premium, is anyone else having a similar experience?.
My wife at 60 years old is still only £220 for the 1.8 turbo hatchback, including me as named driver.
(My renewal for the Z3 is the same as last year).

No. I have noticed no general increase when passing the threshold in the title. In fact a relative reduction (compared to others, due to added experience and no claims). It did of course go up when I changed from an E36 2.5 litre to an F30 335d about four years ago, but only due to vehicle insurance category change.

What are the vehicles respective insurance categories? Is the hatchback more likely to be stolen? Perhaps these and other factors are more at play here.

The hatchback is a Skoda Octavia 09 model, so would have thought it would come in at a lower premium than the Zed, despite now having only one car in the family, i did increase mileage to 6000 from 5000, but come on really!

Is it benefiting from your No Claims Bonus or nothing?

Do a Comparethemeerkat quote for the Skoda, might be time to change company, loyalty is not rewarded by insurance companies in my experience.

We all know that insurance companies work in mysterious ways.
I`m 73 with 3 points and full no claims with LV=. My daily driver Mercedes has stayed the same premium for the last few years, in fact I got it reduced a few quid as its getting old and the policy renews next week. Same with my Merc` R129 on a classic car policy with them, no change.

The no claims is included and i have done the comparison sites (i always do compare), so decided to stay with the current situation with the wifes car and not not transfer it to me but look again next year when the renewal is due for her car.
