My Impreza arrived from Japan in September and it took a few weeks to get things sorted for the MOT - tyres and minor repairs such as a CV boot etc. Registration was finally applied for in October and a few weeks ago the logbook arrived.
Excitedly opened the envelope while looking away and asked my Mrs "is it a good reg?" to be met with her pissing herself laughing.
I'll let the plates do the talking.....

Unlucky or what! There does seem to have been a spate of JDM 1999 cars registered recently on T---VAJ plates, there was another Impreza Type R on ebay recently with the same plate but 457, and I've since heard about an Evo TME, S15 Silvia and JZX100 Chaser that have been similarly afflicted.
They do seem to keep a batch of plates to one side for imports, you see loads of M---UBA, P---XRH, S---OFJ etc for example - never seem to see these regs on UKDM cars.
On the plus side, I did manage to get it out before the salt came to ruin all the fun!

Before anyone says, yes I am aware this is the worst "I've just bought my dream car and I'm excited about it" post ever. But I've just bought my dream car and I'm excited about it, so

Haha amazing. Looks like I got lucky on mine, not only does it have a J in it (and not VA preceding them thank christ) but I do wonder if someone puts some thought into it.
Mine is a KT prefix - which is odd because we live nowhere near Kettering / Northampton - I can only think because the Range Rover we have is a KT (bought in Northampton) so either they wanted it to match, or as I suspect, KT is now our nearest registration office.
However a friend of mine pointed out that in period the Prodrive works WRC cars bore KT plates, so I like to believe that little snippet
If we're doing Imported Impreza pics, may I?

Guess you could always get a custom plate with the word "Magnet" underneath it, embrace the embarrassment lol! Excitedly opened the envelope while looking away and asked my Mrs "is it a good reg?" to be met with her pissing herself laughing.

Lovely car by the way, I have an Impreza as well but a European import, had it almost 16 years now and love the thing!
Enjoy

Just had a tough evening working on my ex-wife's Audi (front suspension), came home, checked out Pistonheads and seeing your new number plates made me laugh out loud. Thank you and enjoy your new car
Cheers! I assume one of those mid-late 00's A4s with eleventy billion ball joints and wishbones on each side?

A bloke at work has an 05 plate STI which starts KT, I didn't even make the connection between that and the WRC cars! His is a UK car though I'm pretty sure. Yours looks good, very early for a Hawkeye being an 05?Mine is a KT prefix - which is odd because we live nowhere near Kettering / Northampton - I can only think because the Range Rover we have is a KT (bought in Northampton) so either they wanted it to match, or as I suspect, KT is now our nearest registration office.

Thanks, yeah it's a really weird thing, Hawkeyes in the UK started in 2006, so I assume the earliest UK is on a 55 plate at least, but appears the JDM cars came a year earlier - Mine is June 2005 so it's a very early one I think (circa 260th off the line)How are you finding yours,is it 280 bhp? I had a UK RB5 so only 240, can imagine that much power in a classic is pretty handy. Mine's 350 bhp now and feels like an absolute rocket ship
