Is it possible to hire/lease a car for a month? If you do it via a daily rental firm it ends up really expensive. Anyone got any experience in this? Thanks

There are various places offering an all inclusive "car subscription" which is effectively a short term lease with maintenance included - this is mostly for electric cars but some normal cars too.

It's not particularly cheap (about £500 for a month in a fairly basic car) but cheaper than the daily rate of a hire car.

Yes.

I have just had a VW ID.3 for a month. Price included 750 miles (with 3 different provider cards for electric) .

I did this as i just wanted to try out an EV. What's not so good, is the company i went through charged £100 for delivery and another £100 on collection, so doesn't work out cheap just for a month!

Might be other "car subscription" set-ups, that don't have those fees , or perhaps not so high.

Sometimes if you ring up your local rental office and explain you want a car for a month what can you do, they can offer you a much better rate than doing it on their website

Thanks yes I think the websites just compound the daily rates.

Surely that depends on how you value your time, and interacting with the great unwashed. Surely..

Car rental places do cheaper deals for long term rentals, I seem to remember Europcar doing a basic hatch for around 500

Some of the big chains have different pages on their websites for long term hire, eg
Avis - https://www.avis.co.uk/drive-avis/car-hire-service...

Hertz - https://www.hertz.co.uk/p/hertz28

Might be worth giving those a go & also ringing your local independent rental place to see if they’d do you a deal on a long hire

Minimum term of 6 months though - and from about £300/month for an MG3.

I've seen local places doing long-term rentals on 10+ year old cars before, presumably quite cheap.

Thanks I have a 51 plate Suzuki swift. Is reliable but looks abit of a shed. Have a few events this summer where I go do with a car abit more presentable. Hence why thinking of renting one for a month. Thanks for all the responses.

So I enquired somewhere was around £450 a month they wanted a £175 signing up charge though. Did others that rented for a month have to pay similar?
