I need to renew my photo card driving licence.

Tried to renew online but my passport has expired, so I have to do it either by post or at the post office. I've heard that doing it by post tends to result in a very long wait.

If I were to renew at the post office, would they send it off by post or online? And if it's online, would the new licence be likely to arrive sooner?

Thanks!

We did it at the post office. It was a brilliant service with a photo booth on site all integrated. Submitted electronically there and then and the cards arrived in the post within a few days.

Thank you both for the replies, that's a relief to hear they do it electronically!

I'll shoot over to the post office tomorrow morning and get it sorted.

Thanks again!

As above, if it's done by the PO it's done electronically by them and should result in a fairly quick turnaround within a week or so.

I'd suggest to check the Post Office website to make sure you go to one that has the full photo booth setup, as some of the smaller PO's and ones that are now counters within convenience stores don't do the service.

Your best bit is one of the bigger PO's, or generally one of the counters that are normally housed within larger WH Smith stores (or similar) as they tend to have the digital photo booth instore.

The one just up the road is in the back of a newsagents and not listed online as providing the service.

According to the PO website, the one in WHS a few miles away does, so I'll nip over there in my lunch break tomorrow!

Cheers!

Our Tesco has a photo booth. I have not read all the details, but it seems it will check the suitability of the image that is taken, and send (or give you a link) to the digital image, which you can then use for an on-line application.

Got it done at the post office this morning. The process was very quick so hopefully it will arrive soon!

My only concern was that I had difficulty doing my signature on the touchscreen so fingers crossed that won't be an issue!

Just because I'm nosey, why would it matter particularly if the renewal took a bit longer to arrive? You're still legal and all that.
