Morning all,

Bought a new (to me, 4 year old) car recently, and the mats are looking a bit tired and faded.

A set of 2 mats from the manufacturer is £290, which is obscene, but these days there are tonnes of websites about, carmats.co.uk, carmats4u.co.uk, thecarmats.co.uk etc.

Anyone used any of these websites recently? Got any reccommendations, or places to avoid?

Cheers

Lots of adverts for OEM car mats on eBay and Amazon. OEM as in OEM for RandomCarMatsPlc and not OEM as in vehicle manufacturer OEM.

Have a look on Facebook. I picked up a set of VW OEM mats for £10.

I have used Carmats4U a number of times as I like their rubber mats, always really good quality and a good fit. Ordered 4-5 sets now for different cars and no issues at all.

These are the last ones I bought for my ancient Shogun Sport.

This - a lot of dealers sell OEM stuff cheap via Ebay, alternatively there are some pretty good third party ones out there. Just search Ebay and Amazon for tailored mats (or tailored rubber mats if you want rubber instead of carpet) and the make/model/mark.

Have a look at Travall, here: https://www.travall.co.uk/

A notch or two up in quality to most others I've tried (apart from OE) for rubber mats, and a little more expensive. But, like with most things, you get what you pay for.

Their stuff looks alright, but unfortunately, my car isn't listed there; they don't make anything that fits

£11 for a set on ebay that look like they'll do the job nicely.

Weird though, there are people selling their second hand original ones in much scabbier condition than mine for £30-40. confused

I used Autostyle in Milton Keynes for mine.
They did a custom logo service to. Just send them a photo of the logo abs they will stitch it into them for you.

£70 for these two including the optional heel pad. I chose the smoother pad but you can have carpet if you wish.

I always recommend buying the thick plastic ones which hold the mud/snow/rain. Bought these for my Mums car and couldnt fault the fit when putting them in. Always look for ones which use the front mounting points for holding them in place though.

I was in a similar position to you and bought some for my Swift from carmats.co.uk, they were half the price of OEM mats from Suzuki. They are the 'super' version and seem like decent quality, don't quite fit perfectly like an OEM mat would but are close enough for the money.

You cannot beat OEM mats for fit and quality IMO. I’m intrigued as to just what car has £290 mats though!!

At least you’re not after a set of Mk1 Focus RS mats!

Thought I'd come back and update this, in case anyone was interested.

Bought a set from carmats4u. They came, looked good, but the drivers side didn't fit brilliantly well.

Figured it was just one of those things, but decided to leave a review to that effect when they e-mailed me asking me to leave a review, stating they seemed good quality, but fitment wasn't great.

This is the OE mat:

This is the new mat:

And here they both are:

Their sales director e-mailed this morning, and after a tiny bit of digging, pointed out that I'd ordered mats for an auto, not the manual version of my car.

He then offered to send me a new, correct, one, for a 5er, which I've just taken them up on. Fantastic customer service IMO, given that the fk up was entirely mine.

Does anywhere do a single drivers side mat? Entered my reg on a car mats site and they say I ordered the wrong mats (can’t return, waited 3 weeks for them mat-less so had to use them).

There’s a bunch who advertise on various platforms selling attractive, perfectly fitting, quilted look, mats as very reasonable prices.
It’s only when you read the reviews that you see that plenty of people (perhaps all?) never receive a thing.

Guess I’m lucky to receive wrong fitting mats saving £17 over OEM lol. I asked if they would supply a single mat but nothing heard back.

I noticed that, Those quilted ones seem to be a mix of scams or companies just acting as a middle man for the same Chinese product and taking an ‘admin fee’.

100% this, I always buy a set when I buy a new (to me) car, just makes the interior feel that bit nicer. They always fit perfectly and the quality is much better than any other non oem ones I have ever purchased.

Annoying, after 14 years the drivers side mat on my twingo is developing a hole. The rest are fine, it has it's original OEM mats. But it's not easy getting hold of OEM Renault sport twingo mats now.

If I knew I was going to own the car so for long, I should have got two sets at the time. biggrin

Have you tried Renault? They often keep stocks and aren't too mad, I bought a set for my Clio 172 when it was getting on for 15 years old from the local dealer at a very competitive price.
