Huracan STO gets Novitec treatment

The most extreme Huracan ever gets lower, louder and lairier still

Though we say this all the time about modified modern supercars, there really can’t be many craving any more exhilaration (or attention) from their Huracan Super Trofeo Omologato. It’s one of the truly great Lamborghinis, utterly absorbing to drive and completely bonkers to look at. Maybe a regular Huracan Evo could be tinkered with a bit, and some flashy wheels on a Spyder is a given, but what on earth can be done to an STO?

A little, it seems, though Novitec’s latest range of Lambo bits isn’t quite as comprehensive as usual. Nice to know there’s a threshold somewhere. There are some carbon bits, of course, which is impressive given how much of the STO’s body is made of the black stuff already. Now there are new carbon fibre side panels with larger intakes, mirror covers and rear quarter windows, also with the intakes bulked up.

Naturally, there are some spectacular new wheels to accompany the carbon, here forged Novitec NL4s built with Vossen and available in 72 (!) colours. Perhaps the more interesting change, however, is behind the wheels, as Novitec has equipped the Huracan STO with four-way adjustable coilovers, developed with KW no less. Adjustable in 14 settings for low and high speed compression and rebound, they’re available for cars both with and without the nose lift. Quite what the KW dampers will do for an already sensational driving experience remains to be seen; buyers can also opt for height adjustable springs for full tarmac scraping, road racer stance.

Finally, of course, a silly exhaust, because if YouTube has taught us anything a modified supercar is no such thing without some silly pipes sticking out the back. It’s like the good old days of Novas and Saxos, really. For the STO, Novitec is offering an Inconel system with 111mm pipes, the option of gold plating and “an extremely sporty note”. Which can be turned down if you actually want to go anywhere.

Novitec’s bits and bobs for the Huracan are available now, for those that must have the ultimate of the ultimate. Or the ultimae of the ultimae, in Lamborghini speak. Handily PH isn’t short of donor cars, either, from Grigio Hati to Blu Laufey. Take your pick!

in black it actually looks more tasteful on the standard STO in bright colours

A new exhaust on this or a Performante is the most pointless modification I can imagine.

They already sound absolutely fking insane.

Dare I say, the car pictured is the most tasteful STO I've seen yet.

I thought that too laugh

A lot of these seem to be specced in some pretty far-out colour combinations, which doesn't really appeal to me. In all black, this looks quite subtle.

The only disappointing thing about this is the slightly dismissive way that the author talks about modified cars. It's a bit sad that so many people in the car world still look down their noses at it.

Looked and sounded fantastic.

No need for anything else IMO.

Horses for courses and all that. We all like different things.

I've modified most cars I've had, right from my first car. I always look at stuff and think "That could just be made slightly more to my tastes". My 911's were extensively modified with body parts, carbon, wheels, suspension, exhausts, interior (mostly to look like the GT2 variant), my DB9 had exhaust mods, my wife's Cayenne V8 was fitted with a set of fruity sounding exhausts and a few other mods, and so on.

I guess it's why companies like Novitec exist. When it comes to cars, some people will always want a bit more of something, or something different.

Nothing wrong with the standard car of course, but it's nice to have options.

Yeah that's definitely not for me. He does like going for slightly controversial colours though. Some of his McLaren's aren't what I'd choose. Good for him though, he is certainly living his dreams.

Exactly. There seems to be a weird attitude towards modified cars in the UK, like we're somehow corrupting a car by personalising it to our own tastes, or like the work of manufacturers is infallible (if only).

Your barking up the wrong tree with me. I'm not averse to modding.

I've put Larini Clubsport sports exhausts on every Ferrari and Lamborghini I've owned.

But the exhaust on my Performante Spyder is absolutely fking ridiculous already. It's insane. I won't be touching that.

I won't be touching the wheels either because I like the bronze cross spoke design of the current ones.

I might be tempted by the lowered suspension as shown here (or something similar) because I think a slight ride height reduction would set it off perfectly.

This is the nicest one I've seen (not on person).

Struggling to see what Novitec have done here due to all black finish

I suppose an all black standard car would be very similar.

That Shmee one is terrible

Shmee's was fine until he stuck the yellow trim on, as a plain colour it was really nice.

Given they get black flagged at track days for noise with the normal exhaust this weight saving is utterly pointless sonit must be for the London 'look at me' circuit.

Manufacturerers spend £M's on r &d only to have mods offered by dubious companies in a cheap attempt to improve a car which in most cases they don't.
As for weight saving absolutely no one would ever notice...
