With the exception of hybrid systems, do we think the focus on EVs will offer technology improvements to regular IC cars?

I’m thinking improved tyres (quieter, lower rolling resistance), noise cancellation systems (I think these were used first in EVs), more attention paid to “infotainment”?

Anything else?

There is background work going on for hybridization kits for old ICE cars to bring old cars hybrid emissions & performance.

Low rolling resistance tyres have been out a while but could get better, lightweight EV's will likely not be far off now, removing the heavy weight on tyres and also improving range, that desire will likely see new ICE cars become lighter off the line.

Electric engine off heating systems generally developed for minimum battery drain in EV could start to be fitted for pre warming coolant & interior where applicable.

Use of regen braking could improve mpg by powering accessories like aircon fan, radio, lights & displays to dethatch engine from the tied parasitic loss of alternators a good portion of the time, multiply electric water pumps could become new norm, as well as improved brake pad & disc life as a benefit.

Better aero could also come in, much more of a dynamic drag reduction focus to eek out mileage and minimize emissions from lessons learnt trying to improve EV range.

I think manufacturers would be mad to develop 'new' ICE units for passenger cars in the next decade. What advantages that an EV has can really be of benefit to an ICE car? There are far fewer individual components going in to an ICE - which means the crossover of parts is narrow - brakes, tyres, suspension, maybe wheels?

The i4 from BMW has demonstrated (based on the kerbweight) that a ground-up EV platform is advantageous, so they can't even share the same chassis going forward into their next iteration.

None of those were introduced first on EVs or hybrids.
