Looks terrific in black with the blue decals. Proportions are perfect for such a hum drum Escort.

Two red that raced in touring cars
Princess Diana’s black one
One grey that was white but the Ford dealer sprayed it grey before the first owner collected it.

That’s what I remember we it being as. Not been into Fords for years though so may have forgotten lol

Oddly it doesn’t have a Series 1 Escort turbo grille.

Regular 5 slat one added by Ford to try and disguise it.

It would go for more than that if it was white and owned by Bob Smith

Actually an Rs1600i grille which is unique to that model

There's at least 3 factory black ones so that's not right. I've seen the log books of all three too.

Not according to Ford. Don’t think it ever had the cut outs in the top.
Do you know otherwise?

Prince Michael of Kent had a black one first….. the story is that Diana saw it and wanted one too…. So at least two

The Prince Michael one was used as the decoy for Diana’s car after the Prince finished with it

I saw the car long before Bonkers had it and it had a 16i grille on it. I know what they (16i grilles) look like, I have two NOS ones in boxes in the unit leftover from when I owned one.

Maybe its been changed since then

I'm sure it will sell for big money. It's a desirable car. However I find it hard to appreciate the massive mark up for celebrity / aristocracy / royal cars. No doubt out there is a car buff who is also a royal follower. for safety reasons the Escort would originally have been well.maintained, unlike many celebrity exoticts.

These mk3 escorts were very poorly made low grade finish cars and made for the masses down to a price.
Look closely at any mk3 escort ( or any escort for that matter) and you'll see my point.
Who owned the car whether its Keith Snodgrass or Princess of Wales makes sod all difference to value.
It's the same car no matter whose name is on the log book.
