Ringwood banger racing 2 stolen rare american cars
Discussion
Just been flicking through facebook today and seen this, I've never been a fan of banger racing period esp when it comes to retro and classics but this is just heartbreaking for the owners 1965 pontiac grandprix and a 1985 Ford country squire not up too much on my american cars. There's some total scumbags about apparently according to comments on the northern bangers page people told the organizers they were nicked and they still let the race go ahead, police turned up took the cars let's just hope they throw the book at them absolutely gutted for the owners I'd imagine these two would be hard to replace even in the states

I've seen this all over Facebook. Such a shame.
With any luck, the two brothers responsible will be learning a new meaning to "Ringwood" in the near future...
Hopefully their business' trucks and their family's caravans will be seized and auctioned off to help compensate the car's owners.

It's not new and no one cares. my mates Plymouth got taken by a well known scrappy in Manchester and turned up at High Edge bangers in Buxton, it was the only one in the UK, mint and loved. We had proof that it had to be the car and no one gave a s
t, the owner was in tears seeing the car and of course after the day it was crushed/ shredded.

The sad fact is that there are
s around (without the warmth or depth) who not only don't care about other people's property and/or feelings but seem to take perverse delight in causing as much distress as possible. Their first, and only, instinct is "take, take, take" whether it be a modern-classic ("it's only an old banger - tell ya wh@ I'll take it off yor ands fer yez so I will") or copper wire from a substation.
That said the banger tracks are just as culpable - shut them down if stolen cars are found to have been used on their premises

Agreed. They shouldn't allow entry to anything without a logbook. I know that's not completely foolproof, but would be very difficult to get around with old/rare vehicles.

Really is time that Elf n Safety caught up with this s
te and banned it, which would do the classic car movement a huge favour at the same time. Some utter scum involved, both drivers and track owners by the sound of it. You still see Cortina-only etc events, where the f'ck do they think all the motors are coming from? They're not still lingering in the scrappies these days are they FFS!
That being said, it's both suprising and refreshing to hear the police were willing to get involved. I suspect it's unlikely, but perhaps they might even manage some stolen goods charges. It makes me nervous any time you see a classic of any sort parked on the street nowadays, sadly you just can't do it any more

Ringwood ‘Raceway’ will be no more soon anyway.
Why's that, are they selling it off?https://www.advertiserandtimes.co.uk/news/ringwood...

The legal system is completely inadequate and utterly toothless in these sorts of cases. I don't think I'm being too unreasonable when I say that anyone involved in stealing irreplaceable classics, and especially just to smash them up for "entertainment", should be tortured to death. If they were my cars, I'd be after removing the thieves' body parts (just like they did to the cars) whilst they were still alive.
The last time I went there, late 2000s, I paid with a £20 note I had withdrawn from a bank ATM. They said it was fake but were kind enough to return it to me, a friend paid instead.
Think they did a switcheroo....haven't been back since.
Was iconic back in the day, anyone go to Burnin' Bournemouth? It was my first car show. You can see some of the photos in the web archive from the local forum that's no longer.
