While I'm a big fan of AutoAid breakdown, their automatic policy renewal system wants you to renew at the higher rate for cars over 15 years old - £76.49 rather than the headline price of £61.49, regardless of what rate you had last year.

Quickly sorted with a call to their helpline, but a little sharp, all the same.

I think the majority of companies are doing automatic renewal now. It's such a scam.

You can opt out of it.

No mention of a different price on my renewal that’s due on 9/9/22 but they do seem to have a different level of cover depending on if your policy starts with the prefix RC or not.

On my last renewal I read the bit about over 15 year old cars (as is mine). It was the same price.

I called them up and they said my car was covered and in the renewal confirmation it said my car was covered.

Thanks for the warning, I will look out for the price, come the next renewal.

Yes. Auto-renewal per se isn't so bad. It was the unnecessary increase in cover level (we don't have any 15+ year old cars) that was the problem.
