For a while now I’ve noticed a number of signs on the A21 between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks have been ‘modified’ with images of cats appearing to peep around the edge of the sign.

Yesterday I saw another on the A227 near the A2 junction (the cat has an added face mask on this one).

Google image search suggests it’s a bit of a Kent “thing”, but has anyone seen them further afield? Is it a wider “thing” I’m unaware of, or just some local character with sticky-backed plastic and a Stanley knife?

Images are from street view, so not great.

Given you can buy them for a couple of quid on Amazon I’d guess there’s more than one person has been doing it for whimsy.

I think it’s fabulous.

Reminds me of this:

Anything right now to raise a smile can’t be a bad thing.

Not seen them in Sussex or London but will look out for them - looks rather fun - something to make us smile is always good

Yeah theres one on the access road to Platt Industrial estate. Its 10MPH an hour down there, but the placement of the cat face makes it kind of look like 40!

I live in Kent and every bloody road sign has one. Mice have started appearing.

I might get some dogecoin dogs to even out the cat-dog balance. Much coinz.

These signs have gone through a few iterations in Bournemouth, but Ainsley Harriot is a firm favourite:

I think it's currently Greta and Jezza

I've seen these too, apparently it's been going on a while but I've never noticed them until now.

I noticed this one when out cycling earlier this summer.

It wasn’t there a year ago, according to Google maps.

I took it down after I'd eaten all the cats in Boxley. biggrin

Isn't the Dreghorn dry ski slope at the end of the A702?

Aye if you drive south from Hillend. It’s where the road south from Penicuik meets the A702.

That would explain why they might be hiding in that direction and not in Bredhurst..laugh

But, it’s been put ‘up’ since last years Google map picture was taken.
I’m out for a ride tomorrow, so I’ll make sure the route goes that way, to confirm it’s still there.

In Dumfries and Galloway, I have seen this sign:

Painted over to become this:

In honour and recognition of the local Belted Galloway breed of cattle.

I took this picture near Sharpness about 10 years ago.

Good work.

Very unamusing in my opinion.
