Can’t stop driving my car
Discussion
Has anyone else got a bit of an “addictive personality” and having trouble restraining themselves from taking their car out for a spin?
I bought a “dream” car of mine earlier this year and I’ve put far more miles on it than i planned… to the extent that I’ve had to update the insurance company 6 months into ownership, to double the declared annual mileage……!
Any excuse to get out in it, going nowhere in particular…. Despite the recent fuel prices and my cars abysmal low teens MPG…. was bored last night at about 11pm and just went for a blast round south London for the sake of it until about 1am.
Im a mid 30s adult not a teenager

Fixed that for you...Im a teenager not a mid 30s adult
I certainly still enjoy driving, but roads near me are not the best and I have trouble finding the time.
I'm hypermiling my 08 Octavia for the work commute, probably at around 70mpg, but haven't starting tracking properly yet.
I'm also taking my 88 7 series for a long run on Sunday, it's well suited for a relaxing motorway spin.
We (petrolheads) have all done it at some point so why not now?
London without traffic is also quite nice, at least at first. I hope it never happens again but the first lockdown and running my partner to work in London Bridge from Lewisham in 20 mins was quite fun/bizarre looking back…

What's the car?
Sarf London blasting round in the early hours? Gotta be some sort of rude boy beemer?
If anything the complete opposite of the novelty wearing off - its got more and more under my skin. I've been driving it pretty much every day for 6 months now for absolutely no purpose whatsoever. I have a shed daily which is now an occasional and has done a third of the miles on the same time

Glad i;m not the only one

Fair play, that's stunning To answer your original question, I head out for a "mini-hoon" every Sunday at about 18:00 for an hour or so. There are some agreeable roads nearby and they tend to be pretty quiet at that time of day.
O/T - your username..........anything to do with an eclectic 3-piece band from San Francisco??

more important now than ever I suppose... keep the dying breed going maybe, etc. Dont often wish I was older, but would have been good to be in a position to have afforded a few other special motors over the last decade and a half or so. Hopefully there's still time! When I was in my 20s I felt the same, I particularly found it a struggle to leave the TVRs at home. I used to get annoyed and frustrated at the weather forecasts if it restricted my use of the cars. I always used to be jealous of the TVR owners who used to be able to just SORN the cars in September and then forget them until the April!
Nowadays I’ve settled and almost enjoy the cars more now. I can drive them on special occasions without feeling the need to take them out regardless of the weather. That V8V is stunning by the way, very envious. Enjoy it and enjoy the novelty!
