How long would you expect a crashed car to be left on the street?

This car has been on Station Road in Barnes for about a week now. As you can see its both on double yellows and the pavement in front of a dentists and only today has acquired its first parking ticket.

Station Road is fairly busy and it must be incredibly annoying for the businesses its sat in front of.

Its obviously had a fairly massive accident, and weirdly there was no sign of any other party. I would have expected the insurance company to remove it fairly promptly. Its on a 71 plate should that be of interest.

Presumably the wheels of state are in motion, once it's got a ticket they'll be back to try and tow it.

I'm amazed it hasn't spontaneously combusted /s

Weighing upto 2.2t and missing an axle, it might need a different breakdown vehicle to lift it without causing further damage...

Quite strange damage by the look of it. All the bodywork damage on the OS but the NS suspension clearly destroyed but little sign of damage on the bodywork around that.

Don't have an answer to your question but it seems strange that it wouldn't have been removed almost immediately. Maybe stolen or have you searched the reg to see if it's actually insured?

A Mini convertible appeared in a ditch on a country road near me a few weeks back. I think it acquired some 'police' tape, but nothing else was done.

A week later I saw it burned out.

Seems incredibly wasteful to me. If the car had been recovered it could've been broken for parts, even if not repairable. Now the car and all its parts are ruined, and there will have been various spills on the ground too of oil, melted plastics etc, and it'll be harder to remove.

Why on earth can't insurance companies get such cars collected within 24 hours, as it would seem to be in everyone's interest?

We had a 70 plate Fabia with the front corner smashed up sat on the roundabout outside work.

It was there for a week before it was taken away!

Stolen and not reported / found maybe?

I guess if it’s taxed and insured the police don’t really care and if the insurance company don’t know it’s been crashed they won’t arrange collection.
