I've been intrigued by this over the past couple of days. There's 3 cars sat doing nothing on average 4/5 days a week at moment.

I certainly don't think it's going to be a massive money making scheme but intrigued to know how your cars have been treated? 2 are run of the mill fuel efficient cars great for long trips etc... Last one is a a45 which may or may not attract the wrong crowd.

Any thoughts, opinions, experiences from PH'ers

Thanks ste

All I can think is you've seen how some people look after cars they own. Do you really think they are going to respect one they are renting?

I think you'd have to immediately adopt the mindset that your P&J are now business assets and they're going to experience significant wear and tear and damage would be likely (alloys, tyres, clutch, paintwork, interior OTOH).

Could be doable if you can distance yourself from the 'need to see your own car kept pristine' approach to car ownership, for want of a better expression.

From the reviews on Turo, many of the renters know they are renting peoples personal vehicles and are ultra respectful of taking car of them. You get comments that the cars are cleaner and in far better condition than normal rental cars. That would be for shopping trolleys, and as you say, the A45 could attract the wrong person such as those lovely YouTubers who drive disgracefully.

My concern about Turo is pricing. Certainly seen some wacktard figures - for example, someone with an Aygo who wants £45 per day, when I can get one from my independent rental place for £30.

Don’t bother renting out the A45. Rent the shopping trolleys out to people 25+, make the price competitive (cheaper than rental companies) and impose hefty penalties on dirty and damaged cars and you wont have a problem
