I am considering purchasing a car in Belfast and bringing it to Edinbugh where a live.
Is there anything I should be mindful of in doing so ?

Nothing other than the MOT, it won't be registered on the UK system, its just easier. Other than that book the ferry and enjoy the trip.

No issues whatsoever. All UK vehicles are registered via DVLA Swansea now. I'm from NI and have lived in Scotland for 22 years now and my NI registered car has never had any issues with Tax, MoT etc. Although it has been SORN'd for the last 8 years. You could re-register to a mainland plate but no point really.
