Hello, please forgive me if this is in the wrong place sub forum.

I am trying to someone to my insurance (Hastings) who has a UK automatic license but it won't let me, it comes back as failed with no explanation offered or given.

I am a manual license holder and drive a manual car, I currently already have a seperate provisional license holder added without any problems.

Aside from the obvious that they can't drive manual cars neither can the provisional holder so to speak, if anything the automatic holder would be 'more' qualified than someone who has never driven?

Can you please advise on this?

Thank you.

Have you called the insurer and spoken to them?
Why would you want to add a driver to your insurance who cannot drive the car?

Are you adding them to give them lessons in a manual car (which would seem legit) but may be rare so they are struggling to find the right box to tick?

Or to accompany a driver with a provisional licence, which they aren't qualified to do

Hello yes I did call them and was just old that no reason was given for the rejection.

When I then tried adding the same person on the app but stating that they had a provisional license it would let me, but obviously I didnt proceed with this.

I am trying to add them so they can learn with me as they are taking lessons in a manual car with a driving school.

A full automatic licence IS a provisional manual licence. You can drive a manual, accompanied and with L plates. So just put down provisional. That shouldn't cause an issue.
