Jaguar F-Pace SVR | Spotted

One of the great modern Jaguars, yours for the price of a Golf R

Hard to imagine any kind of car enthusiast being disappointed by the Jaguar F-Pace SVR when it launched in 2019. If you liked SUVs then it appealed with those suave good looks and decent space; if you liked Jaguars, then the sound and performance of the supercharged V8 was certainly compelling; and for those mortified the family-friendly SVR wasn’t an XF, five minutes driving the F-Pace would likely have done the trick. It was mostly brilliant - as poised, supple and engaging as fast Jag tradition would dictate. The F-Pace was so good that it questioned the need to spend more on the Range Rover Sport equivalent. Alright, so the interior wasn’t as great as the rest of the package, but the SVR remained a mighty achievement.

And even if the V8 saloon template has changed somewhat, the F-Pace has at least depreciated in the best big Jag tradition. This Ultra Blue example is little more than three years old yet has something like £30,000 off its retail price - even at a time of unprecedentedly high used car values. Who knows what it might have dropped to in more normal times? Doubtless the slightly higher than average mileage (56,000) has an impact, but happily that just means getting into an SVR for thousands less than any other available on PH - and for new Golf R money. Which, even allowing for the usual new v used caveats (and the running costs of a supercharged V8), looks more than a little tempting.

Now, of course, a Jaguar that currently costs a little more than £45k at three years old is going to continue to depreciate. Potentially by quite a lot, too. But the curve won’t be as steep as that initial decline, and there’s not going to be much for sale at this money (anything modern, at least) that isn’t going to continue depreciating for a little while yet. Why not do it in leather-lined luxury? Even with more miles than might be expected, this SVR presents very nicely indeed.

Sure, it’d be nice to have one with the updated and Pivi Pro-enabled interior that came in 2021, but you won’t get one of those for less than £70k. And that’s a big premium for more user-friendly infotainment. New car gripes at £75,000 or more become less concerning a few years down the line.

The Jag even looks decent value against more obvious rivals. A Range Rover Sport SVR might be a tad bigger and have a more desirable badge, but pay less than £50k for one and it’ll be older and with more miles than the F-Pace. Similarly, the Porsche badge on a Macan Turbo is a compelling prospect, though precious few of this age are around for sub-£50k. And it’s nowhere near as family-friendly as the SVR.

So if not without fault, a V8 F-Pace arguably looks more persuasive than ever a few years after launch. And with Jaguar’s most recent update being that bizarre Le Mans-themed one, this isn’t going to be that far removed from the new experience. It's not going to be cheap to run, but the SVR sure as heck won’t be boring. Just like a big Jag ought to be.

Been considering one of these for a long time.

They look fantastic, the feedback from all groups appears to be positive.

Just haven't the nerve to do it!

I've always liked these - I think that they're great value too - being £20k cheaper than the equivalent Range Rover Sport SVR.

It's a good looking car in my eyes and the facelift with the Pivi Pro infotainment is a very complete car.

I think these are good value - not sure they will drop that much tbh - it’s a lot of car for the money… imo…

Great car. Sort of like a Range Rover Sport SVR without the less desirable bits.

Getting to the price they are actually worth. Never was a £70K car

Given the mileage, someone is going to take a fairly sizable haircut if they look to move it on in short order. It feels about £10k overpriced to make any sense.

Nice though

I’ve been looking at the supercharged V6 version, a chunk less than the V8.

I have always really liked these. Came close to buying one a few weeks back but opted for the RRS SVR instead. Yes my RRS is a tad older but it’s a fraction of the miles.

The Jag is the better drive but for some reason I preferred the RRS. It might have a more dated infotainment system but 95% of the time I couldn't care less as I am listening to the V8 sound track

Really love these (had an XFR years back) been tempted a few times but just don’t see myself in an SUV for whatever reason.

I do quite like that, despite not really being an SUV fan.

Very nice but I’d find it difficult to justify. I like full size SUVs as their carrying and towing capacity justifies their size. This is like a car (e.g. XFR) but worse. I do like it though.

By what metric do you surmise that then?

I was funnily enough looking at the classifieds for one of these the other day... Cool cars.

I bought a 2 year old pre facelift one.

Had it a year now.

It’s been absolutely superb!

Considering it replaced my much loved Giulia Quadrifoglio, It had a big hole to fill. Not the same sort of car obviously, but as an ownership proposition it’s great.

There are some advantages to the pre facelift.

Better, louder exhaust, full leather as standard and arguably better looks, especially the rear lights. Also the nice pistrol grip gear shifter. Mine is black with the silver ‘22 wheels and it does look handsome.

It’s a completely feel good car, great at wafting but also an animal when you want to push on, very boisterous.

So much luxury and feel good, plenty of performance and quite good handling. It’s engaging and characterful to drive:

My pre facelift also has radar cruise, self steer, head up display, and of course apple car play etc.

The post facelift is probably better all round but not worth the 25k more I’d say if buying used.

It’s also worth remembering that this car offers a size in between the Porsche Macan and Cayenne.

It can seat 5 very comfortably and has a big boot, yet it’s just about ok in normal parking spaces. And at just over 2T it’s a lot lighter than a RRS etc

Last point, it has some of the nicest seats I’ve ever had, same as the project 8 and F Type SVR, also in nice soft semi analine leather.

So whats the new one worth then? It seems even better value when compared to a new SVR RRS .

Havent driven an SVR but had a loaner F Pace S (3.0 Diesel) and it was superb. Admittedly I had it whilst my X5 40e was in for repair but it beat that hands down in every area that mattered to me.

More dynamic, better interior, great to drive. I'd have one of these in a heartbeat!

I found one in the exact same spec parked outside of my house the other day, and looked it over. It's gorgeous. And as a devout Jag 5.0L V8 lover (I have two XKRs), I absolutely know how much fun you can derive from this engine and drivetrain. With the supercharger, it has an endless torque curve. Love to own one.
