What's wrong with that comment? You said she was too shocked to get his details? That is a medical thing you know.

Commiserations, might be worth asking any local places for CCTV? Dashcam would be a great idea in future I suppose.

What a frustrating situation. Not particularly helpful now I realise, but it may be worth investing in a dash-cam.

My daughters mate managed to get a picture of his wife, suppose that would be a last resort with the police if all else fails!

Thank you for the response though, the youngest daughter gets her first car delivered this week and a dashcam is top of the list before she starts to drive it.

If you live in the vicinity of where the crash happened, it maybe worth having a drive around the local area to see if you can spot any damaged elderly Mercs fitting your daughters description.

I'd be sticking that on the local Facebook page. More likely that someone knows her than knowledge of the incident. As long as you're not accusing her of anything and just asking if anyone recognises her, I can't see how there could be any objections.

OP even if you do find him, he sounds like the type that will claim your daughter rammed him from behind.... rolleyes

Thank you all for the responses, I will take a drive around the local area, I've a few mates who run independent garages and they have all been made aware. My big issue is how they think it was ok to just drive away without any thought on how my daughter would be feeling. Accidents happen but putting a car into reverse and then accelerating clearly shows to me that the driver wasn't fully concentrating.

I had thought that, the fact that his wife got out of his car and told him to stop reversing into my daughters car after the first shunt may negate that argument if I ever find him, plus with the amount of damage to my daughters car the airbags would have gone off in a forward speed shunt would be my guess. Giving a non existent home number also a sign that he's in the wrong.

Nothing but contempt for these type......................

Unfortunately, this will be a fruitless exercise...

Even if you do find him, her or the Mercedes, the 3rd party will still claim that your daughter drove into the back of them. Without any 3rd party independent witnesses, it will be a young, inexperienced drivers word against theirs.

I'm not saying your daughter is lying, far from it, but that is the reality.

If you find them and they say that, then want to claim for the damage to their car, plus injuries, plus hire car, the claim will end up being much more costly than just getting her car repaired and moving on.

As above... get a dash cam.

My sympathies OP.

Goes without saying that a dashcam is a must for learners or newly qualified drivers.

I've recently had a smash too where the little scrote was in the wrong but will likely go 50/50. Infuriating.

Hope you get a result but in the meantime a few hundred quid on a dashcam is money well spent.

People change their story all of the time. The best case scenario is that you could lie and say that you have it on dashcam and hope that they come clean to their insurer, but other than that it's just your word against theirs and I would assume that it will be more believable that she drove into them rather than them reversing into her.

My little one had similar last year. The c**t (youngish bloke) swung out from a side road she was looking to turn into and onto her side of the road, then proceeded to reverse, claiming she had cut the corner and hit him.

He then phoned a mate to try and get him to corroborate as a witness.

Thankfully the car behind her witnessed it all, so all was settled in her favour.

She now has F&R dashcams.

True.but the OP's daughter has the advantage of being given a false number and also if the third party claims daughter drove into him why did he not get her details etc instead of driving off?!

Plus they will claim that they felt intimidated by your daughter and her mate and drove off for their own safety...

Does the value of the car make it worth claiming? Your daughter's insurance premium will likely be colossal at 19 with an at fault accident and zero NCD.

If there are no witnesses then there's not much you can do.
