So we went to Knowsley Safari Park...we could turn right to safety...or left through the Baboon enclosure...my wife encouraged me to go left..."It will be fun!".

Fast forward 2 minutes...Baboons everywhere, pulling apart of my front trims...that was okay, I could take that...but then they started probing for weak spots and attacked my rear top braking light (the top middle one above the rear windscreen). Within seconds it was in pieces and the ring leader proceeded to pull on the cable and mock me...I tired to shake him off but couldn't and was asked to slow down (I was only going about 10mph but I wanted to get out of there). At one point I was contemplating getting out to challenge the offender...but I would likely have been mauled to death. Anyway...the back light was destroyed, they've given the wire where the light was a very good pull through the hole. It meets another bundle further inside the car then they vanish inside. Everything seems to work (apart from the light of course), but I'm worried it might have caused damage inside? How does the electric wiring work? If something was damaged can you remove small sections and replace? Or will the wire go all the way through the car? It's a Toyota Yaris 69 plate (2019). Reg GY69CZB.

Most manufacturers will sell repair wires and replacement plugs/sockets. The likelihood of needing a full loom or even full run back to the fusebox is nil.

Had the same thing, luckily I was close to the main dealer to get the replacement parts ( Croydon!)

Depends what car it is but there is probably a joint in the loom near there but a brake light is just two wires so drop the head lining, find the break and run 2 more wires.

I would think you can just join 2 wires but I would aim to try and keep the core thickness etc the same.

A breakers yard would sell you the roof loom and you could either plug it in or solder the join.

I expect there are specific Toyota breakers and it will be quite easy to drop the headlining.

When I last went there we were going through the lion enclosure, and a lion was at the car in front chewing the door handle. I was hoping it wouldn’t come to mine but then thought how cool would a lions teeth mark in your handle be to talk about.

I have been to safari parks, and seen the optional route through the monkeys, complete with warnings about what they will do to your car, and thought “why the fk would anyone do that?”

OP - what on Earth possessed you?

I hate monkeys of all kinds. It's not exactly a phobia - just an extreme aversion. I can't understand how people find them cute or funny. They're like giant rats that fling faeces. I'd love to visit Thailand for the food, but it's full of the blighters. I even turned down an invitation to stay at luxury villa in Mauritius because of them.

I just can't wrap my head around taking a car into a compound where these creatures, which are known for tearing cars apart, roam. Similarly, I can't fathom those drivers who deliberately drive into deep water and they wonder why they've destroyed their car. Why would you do that?!?! If you don't know what I'm talking about, see the Rufford Ford thread.
