Number plate with just numbers
Discussion
It's LHD, and googling the name on the plate suggests it was bought/registered in Kuwait. It'll be one of our overlords come over to make sure the assets they bought from our cretinous political class for two and tuppence are performing as they should be, and that we're all good little worker ants as promised.

On the subject of number plates, I was just looking at DVLA to see if my 1.6 Cortina was still on the road, plate was JSS 55V, it now comes up as a 2018 Mercedes GLC 2143cc diesel.
Didnt know they re-issued old plates, any ideas anyone?
Maybe someone bought the car and transferred the plate?Didnt know they re-issued old plates, any ideas anyone?

It's a Guernsey plate. Most have up to six digits but some very early ones can have up to seven as this one is..
The dealer name on the plate surround seems to ‘Ali Alghanim & sons’. I suspect they may be more Middle East than middle of the English Channel.Vipers said:

Someone would have taken it off the cortina and saved it as a cherished number. That is where all the dateless and other cherished plates came from before the DVLA began selling them.Didnt know they re-issued old plates, any ideas anyone?

The 'plate' is a plate surround not the number plate itself, look closer..
It could possibly be a middle Eastern plate but Guernsey also did at one point use 7 digits. The fact the car is of a certain make has sod all to do with it..

Maybe, just didnt know you could do that, a personalised plate yes, but an ordinary run of the plate, must be I suppose. When I met my wife, she still had her first car at the time. It soldiered on for many honourable years but eventually when it went to the scrapheap, we put the registration on retention as it had sentimental value to her. It now sits on a modern Volvo, but because it looks like a normal DVLA reg and not your average shorter private plate, several people have asked how a car that looks (relatively) new can be from the 90s. The answer of course is that it isn’t, the plate is from the 90s but the car isn’t.
- provided of course the plate hasn’t been deemed non-transferable by the DVLA, but that’s only in specific and rare circumstances.

ker in the background?
Some import duty / VAT avoidance reason I suppose.
Register it in Guernsey then use it on the mainland 6 months a year, or maybe more!
