Old photo - Help with working out what car and year?

Evening chaps and chappettes.

Friends of SWMBO have recently moved into a new (to them) house and have inherited one of those old arial photos that were once so popular.

They've no idea when it was taken, but there's a car on the drive next door. Reckon the hive mind of PH could help narrow it down?



My group of mates have so far guessed:

• 1985 Mk1 Carlton
• 1997 Audi 100
• 1988 Nissan Sunny

I too thought that, an early Mars (or Tornado?) red Audi 80 Sport (or Quattro) because of what looks like a spoiler. 1984-85-ish.

From the shape of the rear spoiler my initial instinct was Lancia Beta...



... but there are some clear profile differences around the C pillar and the reversing lights are in a different place, so I think it's far more likely an Audi 80 as above.

Specifically a pre facelift like in Leins's pic above with the large tail lights so 1983/4 (A or B reg) - facelift with the smaller tail lamps and (I think) body coloured spoiler came in then.
