Has anyone done one of these? Do they bring back any worthwhile information?

I’ve heard some people claiming the DVLA have sent them original purchase documents etc… I’ve got a classic I’m trying to find out where it was originally purchased from.

For a fiver, the DVLA would send full prior owners details and these often included the first supplying dealers details, ive got many vehicle histories over the years, but good old DVLA stopped this some 4 years ago....

You’re not describing a subject access request there. That would only bring back details the DVLA holds on you, not the history of the cars you own.

I did it a few years ago for a MK2 Golf I bought cost £5 sent me back the cars entire history was really interesting as I found out the car had been bought from VW "special" vehicles.

I don't think they do it anymore though.

What you’ve described is a V888 application but as others have already alluded you won’t get much if any details back now.

What classic is it? If it’s a British brand then a Heritage Certificate from the British Motor Museum shows where it was despatched to. Or at least mine does.

Thanks for this info - How do the DVLA send the Subject access request? by post or email?
