Changing cars to a basic small hatch and have quotes from Meerkats from the following.
  • MoreThan
  • Darwin
  • Carole Nash
  • Privilege
Which are all around the same price for what looks to be identical levels of cover.

Of course I hope not to need them and it's a bog standard fully comp protected NCD policy on a bog standard car and I appreciate with any insurer there will be the odd horror story but assuming there's nothing blatantly missing (there doesn't seem to be) which one would you use?

Sometimes it feels like there's too much choice and just roll a dice and be done with it smile

NFU </thread>

Seriously, get a quote from NFU (even if you live in a city centre), if they're in the same ballpark price wise, they're head and shoulders above in quality if you have to claim.

Darwin and Privilege are both part of Direct Line and based on my experience in recent months would avoid like the plague.

Nonexistent communication, car written off completely unnecessarily, ridiculous settlement offer

All resolved but only because I hit them hard and fast which should simply not have to be required

Carole Nash used to be motorcycle specialists and only branched into car insurance a few years ago. I found them very good, personally for bikes, but that may not transfer. scratchchin

Rhetorical I know but why on earth does the same company (Churchill, Direct Line etc.) have so many brands aimed at different market segments? confused

I may call NFU but last time I did they were stupidly expensive on another bog standard very boring car.

A certain consumer organisation put LV= and NFU Mutual regularly at the top.
I was with NFU for a few years, then moved to LV= as two separate policies (that was cheapest). At renewal there was a big increase, so went to multi-car policy with LV= which was the best all round.

Always search around and always make sure the conditions meet your needs.

Whatever you go for make sure they have uk call centers.
Also try Aviva who were brilliant for me when I had my car stolen.
Wife is with LV= and so far they have also been great
