Odd behaviour on Facebook groups. Is this a thing?
Discussion
I am a member of a couple of FB groups related to my car, a relatively niche Japanese sports car. Usually the posts on there are benign requests for assistance and the like and the group generally has someone who will know the answer.
Yesterday some guy joins the group, points to an advert for a car and basically says that it's overpriced, everyone is asking too much money for their cars, they are not selling, we all need to get real, he is going to see one at the weekend which is half the price etc etc.
When called out for being a WUM, he gets very aggressive and I quote "And you don't bother your little mind whats in my car collection. We don't all need to come online to boast and try to be Mr. Big bollix bragging about what you have". No one even mentioned any car collections until then.
The guy is clearly an idiot - a few of the other owners say this is fairly commonplace behaviour on other groups for other cars but what is the motivation? Just to get a rise? Is he 12 years old? I don't get it, I'm wondering if it's me.

Wind Up Merchant. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wu...Mind you, that was dated 2005, so it's probably an expression that has not been used by anyone else for the last 10 years.
Used to use them and now avoid like the plague.
Try selling a track car and you will know what true hell feels like.
Had 2 people tell me it was tuned wrongly(clio182 with itb’s) without ever seeing the car, quick look on there profiles and one was about 17 and had a 1.0 clio and the other was selling scrap corsa’s for £150.
It weirdly ended up with the rest of the owners group posting up there RR numbers even though 99% were a completely different spec from mine.
Took the ad down and the car has been tucked away in my garage ever since.

And lawnmowers. Had one up for £60. Paid over £100 and hardly used it. Some sadsack offers £20 for it, saying he can get one (not the same one!) on Argos for £20. Try selling a track car and you will know what true hell feels like.

I replied, "Buy that one then."Kept the mower for when the gardener can't make it.
I joined a BMW owners group on FB for the 135 140 235 and 240 models and it was one of the most toxic groups I've ever been in, constant posts about values and arguments over them and a good number of people who would tell others their cars were worthless without a pre defined list of optional extras.
I still own my car 3 years in and love it but the owners groups were awful, think I lasted a couple of months before leaving.

That was literally one of the worst FB groups that I had the misfortune to briefly be a member of. A collective of mouth breathers,I still own my car 3 years in and love it but the owners groups were awful, think I lasted a couple of months before leaving.
Most FB groups seem pretty similar to be fair.
