Marque emblems and history
Discussion
I wonder whether anyone collects marque emblems related to their history.
I'm thinking Subaru's six stars representing the six merged companies that formed Subaru
The Volvo Prancing Moose unofficial emblem that is a skit in Ferrari, but relates to the moose crash test.
Also the new Peugeot lion head in a shield..imho a much better emblem than the old full lion.
What are the most decorative emblems, or the most indicative of their history?
I guess the most boring would be the likes of Nissan..

"In 1909, the Daimler brothers used an 1872 postcard from their father as inspiration for the logo. On the postcard, the location of their home was marked by a 3-pointed star. That year, the company (then called Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, or DMG) acquired the logo. Initially colored blue, the logo was adapted with a laurel wreath border in 1926, and changed to silver in 1934."
That's from Mercedes, so it could be apocryphal, but it is quite boring and corporate, which the truth of such things typically is...

And BMW's propeller representing flight and aircraft suggests why indicators are not used on their cars..????
ITS NOT A PROPELLOR! It's the colours of the flag of Bavaria combined with an old logo for Rapp

More or less a return to the 1960s emblem.

The Skoda one is quite interesting; all very meaningful until the 1920s when they started using a winged arrow because... Well... No-one remembers why. People (and indeed Skoda) have theories but it's all guessing. No-one (now) knows why.
They even have a timeline on their own website about it: https://www.skoda-auto.com/world/logo-history

How about the British Leyland badge?
A capital 'L' about to go down a swirling toilet flush.
0ne of my favourites is the Gordon Keeble tortoise. Much better.
The story goes that a tortoise wandered into a photo shoot of one of the prototypes & so amused those present that they adopted it as the company emblem.

Alfa Romeo logo shows a muslim being eaten by a dragon, a symbol of a powerful leading Italian family and it's army taking part in the crusades.

In the Alfa museum in Milan , the first thing you see on entry is the timeline of how the emblem has evolved over the years. I don't know how many there are on the wall , but quite a few , 8+ ?Edited by Pebbles167 on Wednesday 15th March 12:31
