Hey,

I just wanted some advice please - I have a provisional license with Category A, and I believe this allows me to drive a three wheeled vehicle on a provisional. I've booked a CBT already.

Which vehicles can I drive, and is the Reliant Robin an option? Or other three wheelers - motorbike or otherwise.

Would this qualify me to drive one of the Aixam Crossline vehicles which can usually be driver on a B1 but I'm unsure of the specifics.

Sorry for the post, I'm new to this whole thing but as my health isn't too good I thought this would be the best time to find out.

Hey, thanks the reply helped - I'm still a little confused though. I should be allowed to drive tricycles on a provisional and take the test but on Wikipedia (Not the most reliable source lol) about the L7e it says

"These vehicles shall be considered to be motor tricycles and shall fulfil the technical requirements applicable to motor tricycles of category L5e unless specified differently in any of the separate Directives". - Not sure if I have entitlement to drive one or take my test on one.

I don't think you can drive a 3 wheeler on a provisional unless you have specific disabilities.

With cbt you are clear to ride a yamaha tricity 125cc or a piaggio mp3 125cc.

The grandfather licences allow you to ride an unrestricted trike. I think the code is 73/11 or something on the A line.

Thanks for the reply mate smile

I think they added that category on my license after I disclosed of my mobility troubles on some days and requested that entitlement. The issue is, I can't figure out what I can or cannot drive nor how to go ahead and start riding, i.e.. tests, etc...

I was thinking more likely something like a Renault Twizzy but if not that then definitely a Piaggio MP3

Hmm, I'm unsure since I have a provisional, I'm aged 23 so I technically shouldn't have it on my license - DVLA seemed to agree I have the entitlement which was updated recently following informing them of the disability.

Twizy needs a full UK driving licence. At 23 you won't have Grandfather rights so I would think your licence/ vehicle requirements depend on your disability? Maybe the DVLA will be able to tell you?
