Deffo the engine and wheels by the look of it. Roof and screen appear to be of balsa or egg shell?

That's a bit supercilious from the Police Twit.

Could have been worded in a far less patronising way and still put across a 'go easy out there' message.

Why be like that. Smacks of agenda and jealousy.
I went to college at Brockenhurst on that road and being an utter socket at 18 got my Orion 1.4 to 105mph on that road many a time - it's almost straight and to come off you really have to be driving like a cock.

It’s a fairly typical post from their Twitter account….it seems to be run by a 12 year old.

Big time, if that's a plus-6 and the roads are damp, they will just leave the road for no reason at all, even driving fairly sensibly

Looks like an Aero 8 to me.

As Pommy above says, that road is pretty straight. It was also very busy around Lyndhurst this weekend if that’s when this occurred. Still, it beats the usual ‘I swerved to miss a pony’ statement.

Morgan are looking at the styling of the crashed car with interest - the accident has made the wonky boss-eyed headlights point straight ahead!

Was gonna say, the collision has done absolutely nothing to make the front end and headlights look any worse than when it came out of the factory!

Grumps.

Ironic really.

I too used to travel that road and the amount of idiots thinking it was a race track is astounding, and continues to this day.

That conjecture-laced statement is in the tone of a football referee defending a controversial VAR decision. Would someone pass catty keyboard warrior, Officer Simon Pure, some more salt to rub into the Morgan driver's wounds.

Assuming this is a serious comment: they have an ash frame supporting the main bodyworkwork (sitting on a metal chassis - steel ladder frame on the old cars, aluminium on the new ones), but it doesn't start until the scuttle, and the crash damage hasn't really got that far.

I think the point is that sensibly driven cars simply don't leave the road for no reason at all. If they do, then the car has fairly major faults.

"Always drive to the conditions - no matter how changeable". That's a bit like saying - drive so no matter what - you don't crash. I guess it's worked for me for the past 40 years but I suspect luck rather than judgement have played a significant part.

Not really, when I first got my MX5 damp conditions off a roundabout and the car would occassionally snap even when driven sensibly.

Technically speaking, each corner was within specification with no faults and aligned "correctly", all tyres were the same with similar tread and completely legal.

Problem was that each flipping corner was essentially at opposite ends of the spectrum of the alignment hence the snapping behaviour. One hunter alignment later it was like driving a different bloody car that then lead to mods to improve it further.

I also happen to know this is far from an isolated case with MX5s....

Only said because the plus 6 has an auto gearbox, a lot of torque from the B58 and generally runs semi-slicks. All you need to do is catch a little puddle and it'll let go fairly easily, even under low load.

Then you're driving too fast. It's very simple.

I have never had an accident when I was concentrating on the road.
