What car were you in and what did you keep up with that surprised you?

I was surprised when my standard 2014 M135i kept up with a 2010 C63 the other day.

I was surprised my 640d kept up with an i3. Up to about 70, anyway.

I remember flying alongside the M6 and getting overtaken by many cars. Unfortunately I was in a Jetranger.

This only works the other way around, otherwise it's more than likely that what you're saying is "I came across a guy in a fast car who was just punting about whilst I was giving my stbox 100% beans."

Going the other way...I remember being surprised that a Megane RS kept up with me in the E92 M3 years ago(and I was trying my absolute best too!).

Exactly - it's rarely the car's ability and usually whichever driver is willing to lose his license for the longest

However I still smile when I think about catching up a Bentley Continental GT in my standard 2.0 P100 with my kayak in the back

He was determined that I wouldn't pass him so he gave it the beans on the straights but drove like a granny on the corners - the fact I came up behind him on an empty NSL shows I was driving faster but he just couldn't cope with being overtaken by a £1k pick up biglaugh

The only time I have had this experience that (I can remember) was in my SEAT Leon FR (a slightly modified petrol one). I was behind a 997 that seemed keen to disappear, but didn't. I was quite surprised, but in hindsight, he wouldn't have had that much more power than me really, and we were were not going silly speeds.

Driving my campervan along the Wye valley last weekend and was overtaken by a GR Yaris, which disappeared around a bend in the road. Came around the corner and was surprised to find I had kept up with the Yaris and was directly behind it.

(it was stuck behind even slower traffic).
