Anybody ever noticed the dubz boy... you may not but it's a real style niche and it just seems like a ridiculous way to exist. You see one and think "he probably has a 'slammed' VW"

He will have done something like this to his car:

But that's not all of it. Part of the theme is that you also have to 'do' yourself as well so you look like every other dubz boy. I can't be too specific as a lot of this is about particular brands and not wanting to be a dubz boy I've not really looked into what would be required. But they all seem to wear shorts (even when it's cold), 'converse' sort of basketball shoes, logo t-shirt and a baseball cap. All tight clothing. Skater belt. Always tattoos, especially on the calf. Sometimes ear stretchers.

If anybody on here owns a slammed VW and wears all those sorts of clothes I'd be interested to hear how it happened or even better if you used to be one and you were cured.

It’s called a subculture.

Is “sneering at what someone else likes” your subculture?

I've seen the bike on the roof rack thing. And a front wing with the paint sanded off so it goes rusty.

hehe Not convinced yours is any better than theirs...

It'd be a dull old world if we all liked the same things.

Lowered and stanced, preferably so that the tyres are rubbing on the arches on anything bumpier than a billiard table, tyres stretched to the max over unfeasibly wide wheels. (Generally Audi wheels, including Audi wheel centres even though they are on a golf), 4d or gel plates obviously. (Front number plate removed and resting at a jaunty angle on the dash board) American market spec indicators illuminated as side lights. Rear wiper removed, blowing black soot over the rear end (which is never washed even though the rest of the car is gleaming) wastegate whistle on every gear change. To be driven, wearing the obligatory hoodie (hood up), drivers seat reclined at 45°. Clouds of strawberry scented vape emerging every 15 seconds.
Have I missed anything?
Yeah subculture.

They all seem to have those caps with a flat peak, and the keys to the car are always on one of those ridiculous long lanyards

yeah the vehicle mods are well documented but what makes me laugh is the way you have to dress if you have one of these sorts of cars.

You mean just like ‘hot rodders’ who dress like they’re in the 1950’s or Vespa riding ‘mods’?
As said above, it’s just a particular area of being a car enthusiast.

If you’re going to be a dick to groups of people for no reason, there are far far worse areas of car culture to focus on than some kids in slammed VWs.

Exactly what I was thinking. An odd thing to post about like it's a newly uncovered species! Who really cares?!

Basically anywhere on the south coast to be honest, complete with hawaiian lei hanging from rearview mirror. Bit like when I see someone 40+ with a skateboard thinking they're Tony Hawk.

Tony Hawk is 54 laugh

Millenials grew up with all this stuff and now we’re forty. It’s not that complicated.
