Just finished an 11 year restoration on a car which i have fitted with a generic kit car type wiring loom. The indicators work when the stalk is switched either way but they don`t flash, the hazard switch also doesn`t make them flash. i have tried a new hazard switch and indicator relay which haven`t made any difference, the loom supplier has not helped with suggestions short of replacing those parts. Last time i had a wiring issue someone on here popped up with the answer that solved the problem, i am hoping someone can help me out again. Thanks for any help given.

I would try an adjustable led style relay as often the load from the bulbs (especially led) is not enough to allow the relay to move. With the adjustable relay you can reduce it to the point that it triggers.

Many thanks for that, i did query the load on the relay with the loom supplier as it comes with wires for two front and two rear side repeaters which my car doesn`t have so i blanked the ends of those off, bulbs are all old style not LED though...........Martin

Very likely it is the load then. On my 2006 bike the indicators would not blink with the fronts disconnected. They were very slow to blink or somethings did not blink even when I had all connected - I think the modern bulbs didn’t load it. I used an led one that was adjustable even with normal bulbs…it fixed it.

Flasher units do need a load, they flash faster and faster with failing lamps then stay on. Add a resistor or fit an LED flasher relay.
