Found a new clause recently added in my old insurance renewal this year (price went up 44% for no reason, so I've changed insurer now.)

"If you fail to install a safety critical over the air (OTA) update"... they will not offer cover and may consider treating your policy as if it had never existed!

Never heard of that before, but JL also had a clause that you are uninsured if the engine is running and there isn't a person sitting inside. Other insurers say 'unattended'

Well it's the way cars are now. They can have updates. Basically if there's a recall requiring software update then yes, you should ensure you have it.
