Anyone else seeing their insurance going through the roof recently? last year my premium was £650, the quote in the renewal letter was £4.5k, best comparison quote is £1400 - no accidents or calls to the ins company, the only thing thats changed is one more year on the no claims.

Family have seen insurance double too. Thats not just inflation.

Just another example of a f**ked economy?

Very much so, my renewal on the 911 went down £20 to £320 a year but thought I'd shop about as you do. Cheapest was £790 so I stayed where I was.

Our Focus ST has just renewed at £418 up from £290 cheapest else where was over £500 without breakdown etc

From the last few days alone. Seems it's happening a lot!

Glad I don't renew until January so I've got some time to save!

Earlier this year my insurer (a famous name) declined to offer me a renewal.
Not a big increase in premium. Just no offer at all. hehe

Nothing material had changed. I’ve never come across this before.

I'm picking up a (standard, XDrive) 330d on Saturday and it's £350 more than my modified Golf R

I actually had to change insurer because Brentacre straight up couldn't cover me on it

Car insurers lost a lot of money last year. Their ratio of claims to premiums was 109%

And it looks like it will get even worse in 2024 frown

My crappy old 2013 Astra estate cost me £228 last year, £368 on renewal. Shopping around has it down to £290. Nothing changed, I even lowered the mileage I would be doing confused Constrast that to the Mrs Stubert who swapped her 2013 Xtrail in May for a 2018 XC90 and it went up £4??????

I renewed mine in May and it went up from £173 to £198, which is only slightly above inflation.

This.

As well as massive hikes in the motor premiums in October, our home insurer isn’t offering a renewal this year, they can’t insure us.

When I looked into it, they can cover us, but their policy is now massively watered down with tight caps where we had unlimited cover.

They’re cutting cover and hiking premiums, moving anything slight different into specialty policies at a higher rate.

Im considering buying a 2019 Velar, and am looking at around £1400. Feels like a lot of money.

10 years NCB and nothing out of the ordinary.

Even with my recent price hike on the Evora (45%) I'm paying way under half of that. It does seem a lot.

ETA - I meant to quote you Frank not myself hehe

Had my renewal "offer" about a month ago.
£258 last year,£844 this year.No change to anything, well other than another year without any claims.
Emailed them to notify them of the mistake that had been made somewhere.Got a reply saying that no mistakes had been made.
Called around and got quotes from £221 to £419.
Shockingly i went with someone else,my old insurance company emailed me a few days later asking why i hadn't renewed.
Replied that they obviously didn't want me as a customer to which a got a reply with the usual,it's the market,it's covid,it's rising cost etc etc.
I would have been a lot less offended if they had just been honest and not offered me a renewal.

My modified Supercharged Mustang was just under £250 last year. Same this year but being a toy, no commuting and limited to 3000 miles.
