Do you prefer cars that have dark interiors or light colored ones. I’ve noticed a lot of cars these days the whole interior is black not even just the upholstery is this really what most consumers want?

I personally prefer a lighter colored interior as it makes the car look more spacious however they seem to be rather uncommon in the UK market yet in places like Dubai nearly all cars have beige interiors.

Lighter all the way. I wonder if people have black furniture, floors, walls, and ceiling in their houses, with the odd bit of silver plastic to liven it up.

If I wouldn't accept an interior that drab and depressing in my house I won't accept it in my car. Current daily:

I lean towards red or tan, but carpets absolutely must be black. Light carpets age and wear badly.

I prefer eye searing green/cyan or dog-organ-red leather on everything.

Light interior, but not in a white or silver car.

I agree with OP wholeheartedly. I've lost count of the number of light interiors we've had over the years, I point blank refuse to have black or dark grey.

People often say that dark interiors are easier to keep clean, which in reality translates to "I can get away with cleaning my interior less often", which makes me think what horrible, mucky, dirty places some black interiors are going to be.

I wouldn't paint the inside of my house black, I don't want black ceilings, black walls, black carpet and black sofas. Cream or beige upholstery and rich walnut trim everyday, and sod the resale value. Just a crying shame most cars are only available with black interiors with silver plastic trim, looks so cheap.

I like a special interior, I’d like a non black interior in my daily but with work and things I’m not sure if it would be the best option.

Weekend car I don’t use in dirty clothes bring on something lighter

Light interiors are nice but only if the carpets and headlining are of a dark colour.

Sadly I have a boring black/black/black interior combination on my own car, but I have to say it makes the most sense on a daily if you aren’t anal about keeping it spotless (keeping a car clean and keeping a car spotless are two different things)

This is the combination I would have wanted on my car that is a good compromise smile

Tesla’s eye searingly white seats are not bad too, and their stainless capabilities makes them a viable choice too for a daily.

Coloured.

Red, Blue, Green leather / Brown sportex / Blue alcantara / etc.

Plain black I will tolerate

Cream / white / ivory / tobacco leather … awful.

Light. Only have dark when there has been no option. I just feel it opens up the space so much more, dark interiors always feel very cramped and, well, dark to me.

Light. But with young kids it’s dark for the foreseeable future.

Black. Black carpet, black seats, black headlining, black dash. All I want to see, or need to see, is outside (or illuminated inside).

Light(er) all the way. I had one black / black car (911) and it was a dull space.

I wasn't sure when I bought mine as the pictures made the interior look too bright but in the flesh it was good.

Added black mats as the grey ones were getting tatty plus they were a bargain from a local main dealer.

I've had both over the years and honestly can't say I have much of a preference.
Weirdly I stop seeing it after a while.

The only must though is black mats / low carpets - light coloured is a bugger to keep clean and the deterioration ages cars badly.

If I spec an early retirement Bentley GT, interior would be:
Colour split E
Main hide: Saddle
Secondary hide: Beluga
Contrast stitching and seat piping
Carpet without contrast binding
Single finish veneer: Dark tint engine turned aluminium

Same. My 200SX/Cerbera/640d all had light interiors and that is my preference. However with a couple of kids now I do tend to go with a black interior instead. Black is boring and pretty grim to sit in though I reckon, and a lighter leather really lifts an interior I think.
