I'm looking for recommendations for breakdown cover to include my classics and daily and for European cover please.

Would need to cover me and wife. Maybe one or two trips abroad a year.

We were with the RAC for decades but they were extracting the urine and punishing loyalty with their prices so ditched them for Autoaid and then had a horrendous experience 18 months ago being left stranded at a remote motorway services on the coldest night of the year with no prospect of recovery for at least a further 18 hours- Compensation received due to complaint)

In our 40 years of driving history (80 years combined) SWMBO and I have probably called out recovery on less then a handful of occasions as I can usually get a car home.

With a forthcoming trip to Portugal in the TVR I think it would be prudent to take out some cover and was looking for recommendations based upon the above please?

Thanks in Advance.

ETA :m As a new customer RAC online quote for 2 people with European cover, National Recovery, up to 6 callouts per year is £304.50!

Lots of threads on here about what company to use and usually Autoaid gets a thumbs up as a decent " cheaper " entity instead of the usual AA or RAC so whilst your experience sounds awful at least it provides a degree of balance.
Personally for those cars that I need cover on , I have always gone with AA and whilst I accept that each year I have to negotiate the price down following the usual " automatic " increase I have never had an issue when I have needed to call them out -usually on my classic Defender.
Given your classic car and Europe I would therefore suggest AA would be the answer albeit no doubt at a cost but then peanuts and monkeys rule might apply otherwise.

I normally get the AA when out to France and they also use English speaking call centres from there blurb if you breakdown abroad. Not that I have had to use it though.

Thanks both.

AA to join is £84.50 for UK cover.

As a member for a one off 2 week trip to Zone 2 (In my case Spain and Portugal) it's an additional £166.64 so Total £251.14

As a Non member just for the 2 week Zone 2 cover it's £194.41

For Annual Euro Zone 2 cover as a member is £303.52+Joining Fee £84.50 = 388.02

For Annual as non member is £303.52

The car I am going in (TVR Chimaera) is insured with Footman James so their £60 additional Euro cover fee is looking like best option (assuming it's still available)
