Morgan Super 3 Malle Rally Special revealed

There's been a Super 3 support car on Malle's recent rallies - now you can buy one

Those that buy three-wheeled Morgans tend to be an intrepid bunch. The spirit of adventure demonstrated by owners of the 2012 3-Wheeler was usefully embraced by Morgan when it came to the Super 3 replacement, the new car kitted out with all manner of features and equipment to prepare it for whatever journey it would be taken on.

The Malle Rally Special is the ultimate representation of what can be achieved with the Super 3. Described by Morgan ‘embodying the escapism of Super 3’, the new car has been built with luggage and adventure accessory manufacturer Malle London. Ostensibly a maker of bike bits, Malle has been using a Super 3 as a support car for its UK and European rallies over the past year; this car is a version of that available for the public to buy.

To that end, it comes with extra features tested out over all manner of road trips, including one 4,000-mile, 12-day epic. That includes Beeline navigation, lockable storage, interior bungee cords and the rear luggage rack. All broadly familiar from the regular Super 3, but the new derivative also gets the Morgan x Malle Driver’s Collection as standard fit, including a waterproof and windproof wax jacket, a matching knee guard that’s a ‘must have for Super 3 use in inclement weather’, step guards, and canvas panniers with loads of compartments - so wet clothes stay separate to dry ones. They’ve really thought about this, the mad bunch.

A Malle Rally Special will be offered in yellow, red or black, with a bespoke livery that incorporates a topographic map of Malle’s favourite mountain road in Britain. There’s also Union Flag branding (of course), white accents and Malle’s ‘Prepared To Get Lost’ tagline.

Morgan’s Chief Design Officer Jonathan Wells said of the new look: “From the outset of Super 3’s design process we had envisioned the vehicle embarking on incredible adventures all over the world. Through our collaboration with Malle London, we have been able to realise this vision and help equip owners to have their own adventures… Complete with every accessory an owner could need, and with functional and striking design at its core, we have created the ideal special series.”

As part of this Super 3 deal, buyers will get entry to a Malle Rally of their choice: the Great Malle Rally in the UK, the European Great Malle Mountain Rally or even the Great Malle Arctic Rally. Best hope that jacket is warm. Entry to the Malle Mile and Beach Race is included, plus clobber for a passenger. Or co-pilot, rather. The price is £54,995 plus taxes and VAT - which is a lot however you cut it, especially given a standard Super 3 OTR of £43,165. But then as special editions go, the Malle Rally Special is a pretty cool looking one. And a rally could be quite fun…

That is ace.

I'd give my right arm just to have a ride in one, let alone own it!

So cool.

Not convinced the canvas bags slung immediately behind the front wheels is a masterstroke. Apart from that it's fantastic. Would so love one of these.

Peak twee with a twist of Jeeves and Wooster go rallying.
Oddly enticing.

You can hire them from Morgan for the day, overnight or weekend. smile

I did it recently for a fun day blasting around the Malverns and Cotswolds and would highly recommend it. drivingbiggrin

If it's half as entertaining as the previous V-Twin model, it'll be loads of fun. I was hoping the prices of the previous model would fall, but that doesn't seem to be the case... will probably have to build something similar, as I doubt I'll ever be in the market for a £40,000 fun car.

Thanks for the tip, great that you can do single days and overnights and aren't forced to do an expensive 4 day weekend. I'll start saving!

My other half bought me a day's hire of a V-Twin a few years back as a fiftieth birthday pressy. I've ridden superbikes, Harleys, driven hot rods, classics, sports cars and muscle cars, but for sheer fun, nothing has come close to the Morgan. Best day of driving I've ever had.

Another UK based motoring website took a Super 3 on a European road trip, and a pannier had fallen off before they got to the Tunnel, and then the belt drive started slipping. I am not convinced they were designed for big adventures, more designed to make popping to the shop for a paper and a pint of milk *feel* like an adventure.
I would absolutely love one as an urban runabout though!

I have rented a 3-Wheeler back in 2019 for a long weekend and had a blast. Best 3 days of driving ever. As I knew the Super-3 would be availabe for hire, I kept a close look on the Morgan Experience facebook page. As soon as it was put up in their rental fleet, I booked it for a long weekend end of August, and thus became their first online customer. Not long now! Anyway, time to spam my write-up of the weekend spent in the 3-Wheeler while driving through Wales again biggrinhttps://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Vincegail - a great write up and well worth the read. Trouble is, it's got me fired up about wanting a three wheeler again...

I do love Morgans been in a few plus 6's been on the factory tour a couple of times. My company used to supply some of the engine mounts for the old ford duratec engines. However the super 3 to me should be confined to the track. They are an absolute blast to drive but safety wise their little more than a 2 seat coffin. I know you could argue that a motor bike offers less protection however a motorbike is actually easier to spot than these. As a bike rider I know you'd be stupid not to wear a helmet. In these you dont need to! When i sat in one at a show last year my elbow was hanging out the side. No protection whatsoever. I know the old ethos you only live once but in these it would be you only crash once Then Game Over. I love that Morgan still make them but fail to see how they can get them past all the safety legislation for road use.

"Little more than a two seat coffin"... not at all overly dramatic... I bet you'd love my mate's '32 Model A with 500 brake in it...

I'm sorry, I know brits love their quaint little things form the long gone Edwardian or Victorian past, but this makes me feel like wherever it goes it will be followed by a Mini with Rowan Atkinson behind the wheel, just waiting for an opportunity to put it in the ditch.
And yeah, I know it's a more stable arrangement with single wheel at the back rather than at the front but still, come on. 3 wheeler? It's not 1946...
