I've had an electronic damping failure warning come on on my car.

The message says 'see your dealer' - not doing that obviously!

MOT coming up, if I can't get it fixed in time will it cause an automatic fail?

Not an expert but I reckon any warning light like that would be indicating ‘suspension inoperative’ and a fail.

If you've got time the answer will be in here somewhere.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-...

Control-F will bring up the search bar once in the relevant section.

Isn't there an 'Ask an MOT tester any anything' thread?

I'm pretty sure there is. Post on there for your answer, OP.

if there is a warning light on the dash then as I understand it that will be a fail.

Yup, I had an engine light on due to a sensor fail (car ran well) and it was a fail.

Engine and suspension issues are treated differently, as the former has emissions implications.

Where does it state that in the mot Manual.

May get an advisory but ATM no fail criteria for that.

I said it was my understanding not that the manual states, I could well be wrong.

Looks like it falls into the grayzone unfortunately!
