Another ship with 500 electric cars goes up in flames
Discussion
According to media reports the Freemantle Highway had 500 electric cars on-board, one of these has been confirmed as the source of the fire.
Existing cargo ships for car transportation were not designed for electric cars, I think I posted before on this topic but can’t find it, apologies. This is surely going to become a serious issue, with bespoke designed vessels required as the existing Ro/Ro ships present too much risk.
I don’t know how insurance and shipping rates have changed since the Felicity Ace in March 22, but this time someone lost their five and the environmental damage is very close to EU shores.
Changes are coming and they will surely be expensive
